Steffi McIntyre
English, Humanities, Business

I am a KS3 and KS4 English Specialist at The Haven, with seven years of experience in mainstream schools, SEN-specialised schools, and online alternative education. I have taught in the South of England, but I naturally reside in the West Midlands with my partner and our two cats. Although English is my speciality, I have a passion for developing a love of learning across multiple subjects, and I am experienced in teaching Humanities, Media Studies, PSHE, and Digital Literacy.
I believe in finding the quirks that make learning more enjoyable and embedded in everyday life for that aspect of realism and authenticity. I adopt a holistic and nurturing approach in my teaching style, and I am best known for my positivity, friendliness and patience. Fostering relationships to enable learners to discover their own learning identity and explore their interests means that they are taking control of their learning and reshaping it into something unique.
When I am not teaching, I tend to be reading – I love Japanese/Korean healing fiction, and I have an immense collection of manga. I also enjoy anime, figure collecting, playing Pokémon Go (and going on routes), baking cupcakes, and gardening when the weather is sunny. I collect stickers and often write to penpals too. Connection and self-reflection can be beautiful – I love escaping into other worlds, learning more about people, and seeing the end of something I’ve made (even if it is a deflated cupcake or a wonky plant.)
