The Haven as a non-profit
The Haven is part of Autistic Girls Network charity. As The Haven grows, it may in time need its own legal home outside the charity, but it will always remain a non-profit — with every penny of surplus funding AGN’s wider work: face-to-face groups for autistic young people and adults across the UK, parent support, and mentoring.
Our Story
The Haven has been founded by Autistic Girls Network charity, a small (tiny!) neurodivergent-led charity supporting autistic girls, women and non-binary people and campaigning for earlier recognition of neurodivergence. AGN’s board and CEO are all neurodivergent or have neurodivergent children, and we are all very familiar with the tale of late diagnosis which so often encompasses school trauma and poor mental health experiences. But we also know this is NOT inevitable, and so our charity’s purpose is both to support neurodivergent people who have been misunderstood and traumatised in the short term, and to create steps in the long term so that society is a more understanding and accommodating place where neurodivergent people can be themselves.
