Our Learning Ethos
Everything at The Haven starts from one belief: neurodivergent minds are not broken versions of anything. They are different thinking systems, and they deserve an education built around how they actually work.
These are the cornerstones of how we do that.
Community & Mentoring
We create a circle of care where learners feel safe, understood and empowered. Our secure online community, together with thoughtful, wellbeing-focused mentoring, offers daily connection, encouragement and guidance for learners and parents alike. Strong emotional foundations matter as much as academic growth, and relationship comes before learning, never the reverse.
Curriculum & Qualifications
English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Psychology, Entrepreneurship and RSHE, taught live in 40-minute sessions, Monday to Thursday, in small groups of no more than eight. Teaching runs in 6-week blocks, six blocks a year, with optional pathways to (I)GCSEs when a learner is ready.
We are applying for accreditation under the Department for Education’s Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS), for which Ofsted is the inspection body
Entrepreneurship & Self-Expression
From launching a Substack to designing a game, Haven learners explore how their minds can earn, create and contribute to the future of work and life. Passionate interests are not a distraction from education here; they are often the way in.
Recovery & Transition Support
For learners in burnout or overwhelm, or who have been out of education for a long time, we offer Back to Balance: our 12-week gentle reintroduction to learning. Two short group sessions a week, a space to decompress, understand their own brain, and rediscover that learning can feel safe. It is where many of our most disengaged learners begin, and it works.
Our Virtual Learning Platform
Live lessons are the heart of The Haven, and Google Classroom is where learning materials live between them. Used by millions of learners worldwide, it gives our young people a calm, consistent, well-organised digital environment: clear navigation, materials in predictable places, and content in formats that suit different processing styles. Less cognitive load spent finding things means more energy for the learning itself.
