Hey there!

So, you’re checking out The Haven. We get that maybe the word “school” brings up some not-so-great feelings for some people, and that’s okay. Lots of things can feel a bit… much sometimes.

The Haven is something a little different. Think of it more like a space online created just for neurodivergent young people like you – that means if your brain works in a way that’s autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic, or maybe you experience anxiety around learning, or something else that makes regular school feel tricky, this could be a place where things feel a bit easier.

Imagine a learning space where:

  • Things can move at a pace that feels right for you. No pressure to keep up with a crowd if your brain likes to take its time to really understand things.

  • You can learn in a way that clicks for you. Maybe you love diving deep into projects, or maybe you prefer exploring things step-by-step. We try to make space for all sorts of ways of learning.

  • The environment is designed to be a bit calmer. Online spaces can be set up to reduce some of the overwhelming stuff that can happen in busy, loud places.

  • You can connect and make friends with other people who get it. There’s a chance to chat and share with others who have similar ways of experiencing the world, who understand exactly why your interests are so special to you.

  • There are mentors who understand neurodiversity. People you can talk to who get that your brain works in its own awesome way and can offer support that actually makes sense, because either they or someone close to them has gone through exactly the same.

What kind of stuff can you do at The Haven?

We explore all sorts of things, just like in other learning places. You might dive into subjects that interest you, work on cool projects, and discover new things about yourself and the world. We also have some specific stuff that might be helpful:

  • Figuring out your own amazing neurodivergent identity. We have resources and chats about what it means to be you.

  • Finding ways you like to communicate. Because everyone has their own style, right?

  • Understanding your senses. What feels good? What feels not-so-good? And how to make your learning space comfy.

  • Talking about feelings and emotions. It’s okay to feel all the feels, and we can explore ways to understand them.
  • Thinking about masking and taking care of yourself. Being yourself is important, and we can look at ways to do that and recharge.

  • Maybe even exploring cool stuff like running your own projects or businesses one day!

The Haven isn’t about trying to make you fit into a box that doesn’t feel right.

It’s about creating a space where your unique way of thinking and being is valued. It’s about learning in a way that feels more natural and supportive.

If any of this sounds like it might be a better fit for you, why not check out the website?

No pressure at all, just wanted to let you know there’s another way to think about learning out there.

You’ve got this!
