Back to Balance Summer
A summer taster of The Haven
Cameras off is fine. Speaking is optional. Starting is everything.

If your young person hasn’t been able to attend school, summer is different. For six weeks there is no register anywhere, no missed lessons piling up, nobody asking why she isn’t in. That makes summer the gentlest possible time to try learning again. So this year we’re running Back to Balance Summer: a five-week taster of The Haven, built for young people who might not be ready for a classroom but might be curious about what a different kind of one feels like.
What it is
Back to Balance is The Haven’s gentle reintroduction to learning, designed for young people who have been out of school for months or even years. The summer version runs over the holidays: two short live sessions a week, five weeks, no pressure and no expectations about where anyone should be. There are no tests and nothing to catch up on. Cameras off is completely fine. Not speaking is completely fine; plenty of our learners start in the chat box, and some start by just listening. Every educator at The Haven is neurodivergent themselves, so nobody needs to explain why any of this matters. Sessions are short on purpose: forty minutes is enough to try something without it becoming a demand.
What we’ll explore
Back to Balance is built around six themes, drawn from The Haven’s full course:
The details

| Session | Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 40 minutes each (ten sessions in total) |
| Where | Online, from home (or wherever feels safe) |

| Cost | £400 for the full five weeks |
| Places | Twelve, first come, first served |
Back to Balance Summer is a lighter version of our full Back to Balance course. It doesn’t include mentor circle or after-school clubs, which is why it costs less than the full course. Everything else that makes The Haven The Haven is there: neurodivergent educators, no cameras required, no pressure to speak, and learning that starts from safety.
What happens afterwards
Nothing has to happen afterwards. Some young people will do the five weeks and simply have had a good summer experience, and that is a success. For families thinking about September, Back to Balance Summer is also a low-stakes way to find out whether The Haven fits before committing to more. From September we offer the full Back to Balance course, part-time lessons, and a full-time timetable leading to GCSEs, with funding routes including private payment, Alternative Provision commissioned by schools, and EOTAS through an EHCP.
